It is currently mandatory to register if you keep 50 or more poultry (at any single premises). The Great Britain Poultry Register requires you to provide specified information about your birds. The information registered is important in the prevention and control of notifiable avian disease outbreaks, affecting both domestic and wild birds.
The proposal will encompass all birds, not just poultry, except for a single pet bird kept entirely within the household. You can see the full details from gov.uk here:
