Member registration opens for Aviornis UK. The first edition of the English Language bi-monthly magazine available in June.
2021
16 November
First meeting with the aim of creating Aviornis UK.
2018
Colour mutations are no longer accepted at shows or exchange fairs in Flanders and the Netherlands.
2017
Creation of the Eared Pheasants focus group.
Creation of the CABES focus group (Conservation Aviornis Birds Ex-Situ)
2015
Creation of the Silver Pheasants focus group.
2014
Creation of the Ratites focus group out of the ‘Flemish Ratites Association’
2012
Aviornis Flanders and the Netherlands release the second revised edition of the waterfowl book (Dutch language).
2011
Aviornis UK closed.
The Waterfowl focus group becomes a separate association that also takes care of domestic birds.
The Vulnerable Waterfowl focus group is being reinstated.
2010
Member adverts for colour mutations are no longer allowed in the Dutch magazine.
Creation of the Fireback Pheasants focus group.
Creation of the Tragopan focus group. For the first time, Aviornis will use DNA testing to select purebred birds.
2009
Creation of the Waterfowl focus group including the “vulnerable bird species”.
2006
Creation of the Hornbills focus group.
2005
Creation of Aviornis Germany.
Creation of the Vulnerable Bird Species (waterfowl) focus group.
2004
The Turacos focus group is taken under the wings of Aviornis (before, this was the International Turaco Society, called ITS Benelux).
2003
Creation of the Young Aviornis focus group.
Aviornis Flanders and the Netherlands publish the book ‘Keeping waterfowl… it’s a hobby!’ (Dutch language).
2002
Creation of the Ibisring focus group (for ibises and spoonbills).
2000
Creation of the Peacock-pheasants focus group in collaboration with WPA (World Pheasant Association).
1993
July: Creation of Aviornis UK.
19 May: extension of the statutes to include more bird species.
11 January: Creation of Aviornis Ibérica (Spain and Portugal) and Aviornis Pakistan
1992
30 October: Ministerial decree accepting the Aviornis International closed leg rings for European birds.
1989
The Wild Pigeons focus group expands to include the small gallinaceous birds. The abbreviated name of the focus group becomes “WDKH”.
1987
15 March: Study group formed for Wild Pigeons.
1985
Creation of Aviornis Wallonie and Aviornis France.
1983
14 October: Creation of Ruffed Pheasants study group in collaboration with WPA (World Pheasant Association).
1980
Creation of the Junglefowl focus group in collaboration with WPA (World Pheasant Association).
1979
12 May: Creation of Aviornis the Netherlands.
1976
Creation of the Ring Service with studbook administration.
5 October: The first major Aviornis exhibition in Dadizele, Belgium.
February: Aviornis becomes Aviornis International.
1975
23 March: At the statutory meeting in Antwerp Zoo, the association is officially named ‘Aviornis’.
1974
1, 2 and 3 November: The first exhibition of only phasianids, waterfowl and wild pigeons takes place in the city festival hall in Tienen, Belgium. The entire hall was transformed into a beautiful park.
1973
14 October: A group of enthusiasts of phasianids, waterfowl and wild pigeon species hold a meeting in Tienen, Belgium. This is the start of what later will become Aviornis.
